Wat is een aandeel en hoe beleg ik erin?

Je hebt vast wel eens gehoord dat een bedrijf ‘naar de beurs gaat’, dat wil zeggen dat er aandelen worden uitgegeven zodat het bedrijf meer eigen vermogen krijgt. Door aandelen van dit bedrijf te kopen neem je deel in dit eigen vermogen. Dat betekent ook dat je in feite voor een klein stukje eigenaar van het bedrijf wordt en dus ook meedeelt in de winst die wordt gemaakt. Als particulier kun je niet direct op de beurs in aandelen handelen, hiervoor neem je een broker in de arm die dat voor je doet. Gewone banken waar je ook je privérekening hebt afgesloten kunnen dat voor je doen, maar er zijn ook gespecialiseerde brokers zoals BinckBank die alleen maar voor klanten handelen in aandelen. Maar je kunt ook beleggen in aandelen met CFD’s met behulp van Saxo Bank. We hebben nu twee belangrijke brokers genoemd maar er zijn nog veel anderen die qua diensten voorwaarden en kosten van elkaar verschillen. Brokers uitgebreid vergelijken is dan ook geen overbodige luxe.

Winst of verlies
Een bedrijf kan winst maken of verlies draaien. Zo is het ook met aandelen van het bedrijf. Deze aandelenkoers bepaalt de waarde van het aandeel. Met andere woorden; als een bedrijf veel winst maakt stijgt de waarde van het aandeel en wordt meer dividend (winstdeling) aan de aandeelhouders uitgekeerd. Maar als het minder gaat en het vertrouwen in de toekomst niet zo heel rooskleurig is, daalt de waarde van het aandeel. Het is de kunst om ontwikkelingen te voorzien die voor een bepaald bedrijf gunstig uitpakken. Bijvoorbeeld als de prijs van graan stijgt is dat gunstig voor de graanproducent, maar minder voor fabrikanten van muesli. Ervaren beleggers speculeren op dit soort mogelijke ontwikkelingen om aandelen goedkoop te kopen en vervolgens duur te verkopen. 

De beurs fluctueert
Wat er in de wereld gebeurt heeft invloed op de stemming op de beurs. Bijvoorbeeld als de rente stijgt of daalt, als er meer of minder werkeloosheid is, als er oorlogen uitbreken, aanslagen worden gepleegd of natuurrampen zijn. Het kan ervoor zorgen dat de aandelenmarkt stijgt of juist daalt. De belangrijkste oorzaak voor deze fluctuatie is het zogenaamde beurssentiment. Dit gaat altijd in extremen. Of beleggers en analisten springen een gat in de lucht en voorspellen gouden bergen, of ze zitten diep in de put en zien alleen maar ellende en rampspoed op hun weg. Dit marktrisico hoort bij beleggen, maar je kunt het risico enigszins verlagen door ook te beleggen in bijvoorbeeld obligaties. 

Beginnen met beleggen

Als je besluit te gaan beleggen in aandelen kun je het zo gek maken als je zelf wilt. Het is mogelijk om via je broker zelf aandelen aan te schaffen, maar je kunt ook kiezen voor een beleggingsfonds of totaalpakket. Dit is een kant en klare portefeuille met verschillende aandelen van verschillende bedrijven. Op die manier wordt het financiële risico gespreid en loop je minder risico.
